The Lawrence-Allison Fire Protection District (LAFPD) is working in cooperation with the nonprofit Illinois Fire Safety Alliance and the Illinois State Fire Marshals Office to provide no-cost smoke alarms to residents of Lawrenceville and the District.

The "Be Alarmed!" Smoke Alarm Installation program was developed to educate Lawrence County and other citizens across the state on the dangers of fire, how to prevent home fires and to ensure that there are working smoke alarms properly installed in home. Smoke alarms are the most effective early warning device available. Having one in the home reduces the chances of dying in a home fire by 50% Residents also need to create a home fire escape plan so they know what to do if fire breaks out.

The program is only for residents in the LAFPD District. Landlords and commercial businesses are not eligible. For more information, contact Corey Taylor at the LAFPD.
