Brazil, In. – Shortly after 10 am Wednesday morning the Brazil Police responded to an attempted robbery report at the Advance Auto store on East National Ave. (U.S. 40) in Brazil. As the police responded the suspect fled the scene. The Brazil police gave pursuit as the suspect fled west bound on U.S. 40 where the Clay County Sheriff deputies gave chase. As the chase entered Vigo County the Vigo County Sheriff deputies joined the pursuit. The suspect refused to pull over and entered the city of Terre Haute where Terre Haute Police and ISU police joined the chase. The suspect turned back east and headed back to Brazil. By this time the Indiana State Police were involved. The suspects’ car avoided stop sticks put out by the Indiana State Police and came back into Brazil where he reversed direction and headed back west toward Vigo County again. The suspect was finally stopped near the York Automotive dealerships on U.S. 40 west of Brazil. The name of the suspect has not been released but he was taken to the Clay County Jail.
