A Hammond woman faces driving while suspended charges following a traffic stop Sunday afternoon in Plymouth, according to the Plymouth Police Department.

Patrolman Thornton initiated a traffic stop on an SUV on Sunday afternoon on the off-ramp from U.S. 30 to U.S. 31.

Following an investigation, officers determined that the driver, Jerika Marie Wolotka, 27, of Hammond, was operating a vehicle while her driver's license was suspended.

Wolotka was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where she was booked on a preliminary charge of driving while suspended with a prior suspension within 10 years.

Charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. All suspects are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
