Greg Groninger was appointed to the Henry Township Advisory Board through a Republican caucus held Wednesday.
He fills a vacancy on the board left by the late Jerry Hartzler, who passed away on March 26.
The caucus took place at Akron Town Hall, with three precinct committeemen voting unanimously to appoint Groninger to the position.
Fulton County Republican Party Chairwoman Amy Roe reports that Calvin Kneller had initially showed interest in the position, but ended up withdrawing his declaration of candidacy.
"He felt he had too much going on to do the position, thus he chose not to participate in the caucus," she said of Kneller.
Fulton County Clerk Dawn Ziemek swore in Groninger after the caucus.
