The Fulton County Community Foundation, a fund affiliate of the Northern Indiana Community Foundation (NICF), has awarded a $15,000 grant to the Fulton Athletic League to support the construction of two new, high-quality batting cages at the community ballpark.
The Fulton Athletic League, an organization that offers baseball and softball programs for local youth, fosters much more than just athletic skill. The league strives to provide an environment that encourages traits such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit to flourish. League representatives believe the new batting cages will enhance player development by allowing for more focused and consistent training, ultimately strengthening both individual performance and team success on and off the field.
“This grant from the NICF will have a lasting impact not just on the facility, but on our athletes,” said Alysha Marrs, a representative of the Fulton Athletic League. “The new batting cages will provide a safe, dedicated space for skill development, confidence building and team growth - an investment not just in the sport of baseball or softball, but the kids who play them.”
In addition to athletic benefits, the project is expected to increase participation by offering modern facilities and attracting new members. The upgraded amenities may also position the league to host local tournaments and events, further enhancing community engagement and raising the league’s profile in the region.
