An officer with the Plymouth Police Department arrested a local man for driving without a license early Thursday morning.
On September 11th, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Corporal Schieber conducted a traffic stop on Lincolnway East near 10th Road after the officer knew the driver to be unlicensed.
The driver of the vehicle was a 44-year-old Erick Gama-Barrios of West Jackson Street in Plymouth. Gama-Barrios was confirmed to have a previous conviction for operating without a license and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held for about 45 minutes until his cash bond was paid, and he was released on bond with a court date.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
