After a soft opening during the holiday season last year, the Gaebler Cafe is hitting a home run serving up delicious drinks and bakery items to those visiting Billie Creek Village and Rockville.
"We were open a little while during Christmas at the Village during December with a soft opening. We learned a lot and spent January and February doing interior renovations on the historic building that was built in the 1900's. We are excited to be open since March 1," said Michelle Mundo, historic site director at Billie Creek Village.
Gaebler Cafe is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features a variety of items, according to Mundo.
"We offer lattes, coffees, teas both hot and iced and all of our baked goods are baked in house. We have a couple food options. We are excited we are going to do seasonal menus. About every three months, we are going to change up our menus, but we will always keep a few staples. Some of our favorites are Rice Krispie treats, no bake cookies, but the specials and savory foods will change," Mundo said.
Despite being open for two months, things are going extremely well as Gaebler Cafe is starting to attract routine visitors and is making itself known as a destination to those visiting both Shades State Park and Turkey Run State Park.
"It is going fantastic. We have some amazing regulars that visit us every day. A lot of people don't realize we open at 6 a.m., but we look forward to continuing to grow and we are getting busier every single day it feels like," Mundo said.
