Fulton County unemployment matches Indiana's but well below the national rate

Fulton County's unemployment rate was the same as Indiana's in the month of May according to recent numbers released from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The 3.3% rate left Fulton County ranked 23rd in the state in May.

Marshall County posted an unemployment rate of 3.0% — well below both the Indiana state average of 3.3% and the national rate of 4.3%. The rate places Marshall County 54th among Indiana's 92 counties.

Among area counties, the employment landscape varies considerably. Starke County ranks fourth in the state with an unemployment rate of 3.8%, while St. Joseph County comes in ninth at 3.6%. 

Statewide, Pulaski County boasts the lowest unemployment rate in Indiana at just 2.3%. Meanwhile, Howard County carries the highest at 4.8%.
