The National Weather Service (NWS) says that a Flood Warning is now in effect for the Embarras River at Lawrenceville through Monday, March 9th.

Excessive rainfall over the past 24 to 48 hours across the Embarras River basin in central and southeastern Illinois has led to rises in the river level. The river Friday morning was measured at 30.8 feet, just above its 30-foot flood stage at Lawrenceville. It is forecast to continue to rise through the weekend to 31.7 feet before cresting. It will then begin a steady fall to below flood stage Monday.

Some minor flooding is being reported along the river near Lawrenceville. At 33 feet, the Kellys Lake Lane (CR 1160N) is inundated. Those who live close to the river should be prepared to take action should flood waters continue to rise. Keep tuned to GIANT-FM WAKO for the latest flood information.
