Earth tremor reported in southeastern Illinois

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reports that there was a small earth tremor in southeastern Illinois early Thursday.

It occurred around 4:15 a.m. (CST) and was located with an epicenter about five miles west-northwest of the city of Grayville. The tremor originated from an estimated depth of 24 kilometers. No damages were reported.

The tremor was the latest in a series of quakes rattling the region. The most recent was on March 30 centered northeast of the city of Mt. Carmel and was at a magnitude of 2.4.
