An 80-year-old Culver woman died Sunday evening following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 31 and S.R. 10 at Argos.
Carol Lee Ziert was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth after being transported from the crash scene with serious injuries.
Marshall County 911 received a call reporting the collision at approximately 4:04 p.m. on December 28th. Argos Fire and EMS, Argos Police, and Marshall County Sheriff's units responded to the scene.
According to Officer Prater with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, Ziert was driving a 2024 Nissan westbound across U.S. 31 when she failed to yield to southbound traffic. Her vehicle entered the southbound lanes directly in front of a 2011 Nissan Versa driven by William James Mramer, 48, who was traveling south on U.S. 31.
The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Ziert was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth with serious injuries. She died at 8:12 p.m. while being treated at the hospital.
Mramer was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with apparent minor injuries.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash.
