A Crown Point man was lodged in the Marshall County Jail on Sunday following a county traffic stop for speed. He was arrested for having a scheduled 2 controlled substance without a prescription.
At about 7:15 p.m. on June 16th Marshall County Deputy Matt Geiger stopped a vehicle for speeding on U.S. 30 east of King Road. During his investigation, it was found that the driver, Jaelynn J. Coleman, 24, of Crown Point had a suspended driver's license. Mr. Coleman was placed into custody and when gathering items for Mr. Coleman Deputy Geiger located green pills that were identified as a schedule 2 controlled substance, for which Coleman did not have a prescription.
Jaelynn Coleman was taken to the Marshall County Jail and charged with possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance and driving while suspended prior. He was held on a $500 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
