On Thursday, March 20, at approximately 6:25 pm, the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center was notified of a single-vehicle accident into a tree on US 6, east of Union Road.
The caller advised that the vehicle hit a tree, and the driver was trapped inside the pickup truck.
When Marshall County Police arrived on scene they found a 2000 Ford F-150 was being driven by 48-year-old William Neiswender, of Plymouth.
A witness at the scene told police that Neiswender had passed them at a high rate of speed and failed to navigate the curve before going off the roadway and ending up crashing into a tree.
Lutheran Air was called to the scene to transport Neiswender to the trauma center. This crash remains under investigation by Marshall County Police.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by Walkerton EMS, Polk Fire Department, Walkerton Police Department, Lutheran Air, and Reichert-Knepp Towing.
