City officers arrest 2 on alcohol-related charges in Plymouth

Plymouth Police arrested two men on alcohol-related charges in separate incidents this week.

The first arrest came Wednesday afternoon, August 26, at 4:30 p.m., when Patrolman Thornton arrived in the area of the Plymouth Public Library for reports of a male acting strangely outside. While speaking with the individual, Officer Thornton noticed signs of impairment.

Keegan Nicholas Burt, 20, of Knox, was found to be under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol content of .167. Burt was taken into custody and lodged in the Marshall County Jail for public intoxication and illegal consumption of alcohol. He was held on a $250 cash bond.

The second incident occurred just after 2 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, when Officer Fisher with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had turned off Jefferson Street onto northbound Oak Drive from the traffic light, squealing its tires and accelerating quickly. The vehicle also had a broken taillight.

Officer Fisher stopped the vehicle at 1400 North Oak Drive. While speaking with the driver, identified as 22-year-old Logan Sniadecki of Ewing Street in Plymouth, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage.

Sniadecki told the officer he had one drink before leaving work around 11 p.m. He was given a field sobriety test and a portable breath test, which showed a blood alcohol content of .122. Sniadecki was offered a certified test, and the results are pending.

He was booked into the Marshall County Jail for operating while intoxicated above .08 and OWI endangerment, and held on a $1,500 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
