The Marshall County Historical Museum is excited to announce the lineup for this year’s Brown Bag Lunch & Learn events.
The series kick-offs on March 14 with Harvesting Sweetness: Making Maple Syrup. Participants will learn about making real maple syrup the old-fashioned way. Jonathan Cook from Plymouth will share all the steps from tapping the trees to knowing when the syrup is done.
On April 11, the event is Nature’s Storyteller: The Life of Gene Stratton-Porter. Author Barbara Olenyik Morrow tells the story of this remarkable Hoosier who lived life on her own terms.
On May 9, it’s A True Odyssey. It’s 1933. Jobs prospects are dim, even for college graduates, so Hershel Seymore and his buddy head to Vancouver, B.C. Not everything goes as planned in the Great Depression hobo adventure.
The June 13 Brown Bag at the museum is Little Known Ladies of Culver with local historians Jeff Kenny and Rev. Dr. John Houghton. They will share tales of some of Culver’s fascinating but little-known leading ladies.
The museum takes a break in July, and then the Brown Bag Lunch & Learn series continues through Nov. 14.
The Brown Bag Lunch and Learns are held at noon on the second Tuesday of each month in the Marshall County Museum in downtown Plymouth. Participants are invited to bring their lunch for these one-hour sessions.
