Bring your hazardous storm debris to the Recycle Depot

As Marshall County residents sort through storm-damaged homes and property, they are encouraged to set aside household hazardous materials for disposal at the Marshall County Recycle Depot.

The Recycle Depot can accept the following materials: appliances containing Freon, small countertop appliances, automotive liquids, batteries of all types, household and garden chemicals (five gallons or less), electronics and televisions, light bulbs, tires from cars or light trucks, and non-narcotic medicines. Please bring these items in their original containers and ensure there are no leaks. Bring them in cardboard boxes or totes – no garbage bags, please.

The Depot will not be able to accept large floor-standing non-Freon appliances such as stoves or dishwashers, no limbs or brush, nothing explosive or radioactive, and no furniture or household items. If residents need outlets for these items, please call the Depot for further guidance on disposal.

The Depot will be open this Saturday morning, April 5, from 8 – 12 noon to for recycling and hazardous materials drop-off. The Depot’s regular hours are listed on the website.

The Recycle Depot is Marshall County’s headquarters for recycling, household chemical and hazardous waste disposal, and environmental education.
