Sandy Saenz, owner of Simplee Stated Gifts in downtown Plymouth, hosted the 1st Annual Blueberry Bake-Off on Saturday — and the inaugural event was a sweet success.

"I am so pleased with the response for my first year," Saenz said. "I had 10 participants in total with breads, muffins, cookies, cakes, and pie. Plenty of blueberry flavors for sure!"

The judges had a tough job, with scores reflecting just how close the competition was. This year's winners were:

  • 1st Place — Ann Bradley of Argos, for her blueberry cake with blueberry cream cheese frosting
  • 2nd Place — Leah Johnson of Argos, for her blueberry bread
  • 3rd Place — Kathryn Hiatt of Plymouth, for her blueberry-pineapple cookies

Judges for the event were Mayor Listenberger, Stefanie Pippenger of La D'zert Cafe, and 2026 Teen Miss Blueberry Ruby Meister.

Saenz expressed gratitude for the community's support in helping launch the first-year event and said she is already looking forward to next year.
