A 22-year-old Plymouth man is facing serious charges after police responded to a report of a physical domestic disturbance at the Westgate Apartments on Thursday morning.
Plymouth Police were dispatched to 2000 Westgate Avenue at approximately 9:54 a.m. on April 23 after receiving a 911 call reporting that a female was being battered at the location.
Following an investigation at the scene by Officer Wally Derifield, police arrested Alex Johnson, 22, who resides at the Westgate Avenue address.
Johnson was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, as well as simple strangulation.
He is currently being held at the county jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
