Jose Martinez-Santos, 19, accused of grabbing girlfriend by the hair during Friday night incident
A Plymouth man was arrested on a domestic battery charge Friday night after officers responded to a domestic dispute on Webster Avenue.
On Friday, Oct. 30, a little after 8 p.m., officers with the Plymouth Police Department were dispatched to 110 Webster Avenue after the Marshall County 911 Center received a call from a woman who said she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.
The caller told dispatchers that her boyfriend had pulled her by the hair back into the car. She said she was able to lock herself inside the vehicle and he could not get to her.
The boyfriend was identified as Jose Martinez-Santos, 19, of Plymouth.
When officers arrived, they located Martinez-Santos standing outside the passenger-side door, crying and upset, trying to talk to the female.
During the investigation, Martinez-Santos admitted to grabbing his girlfriend by the hair and pulling her to the car.
He was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on a charge of domestic battery and given a court date and bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
