The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is extending hours at all branches on Monday, November 2, and Tuesday, November 3, for the general election.
Extended hours are Monday, Nov. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Branches will prioritize ID-related transactions — new, amended, renewed, or replacement identification cards, learner permits, driver's licenses, and CDLs. Customers must bring all required documentation.
Free voter ID cards are available to any unlicensed Hoosier who is a U.S. citizen, can provide proper documentation, and will be at least 18 by the next general or municipal election.
Documents required for a new ID or license:
- Proof of identity (birth certificate or U.S. passport)
- Proof of Social Security number (Social Security card, pay stub, or W-2)
- Proof of lawful status (birth certificate or U.S. passport)
- Two documents proving residency, dated within the last 60 days (utility bill or bank statement)
- Proof of name change, if applicable
Voting ID cards that expired after the last general election (November 5, 2024) may be used as voter identification.
