Strong third quarter propels Greenwood to Homecoming win over Triton Central

Greenwood scored 38 points in the middle two quarters Friday to pull away and defeat Triton Central, 45-34.

The Woodmen improved to 3-3 overall and 2-2 against Hoosier Legends Conference opponents.

Triton Central fell to 2-4 (1-3).

The Tigers took the lead early then secured a turnover on Greenwood’s next possession but failed to capitalize with more points.

The Woodmen tied the game in the second quarter and added another score for a 14-7 lead.

A second rushing touchdown for the Tigers followed and the score was tied again.

Each team scored another touchdown before halftime in what turned into a wild second quarter.

A pair of passing touchdowns and a field goal helped Greenwood open a 38-21 lead in the third quarter and Triton Central never recovered.

Triton Central hosts Monrovia (2-3, 1-3) next Friday at Mendenhall Field.
