The City of Greenfield broke ground recently on its new Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTTP).
The groundbreaking event included the Greenfield Mayor Guy Titus and city officials with representatives from Commonwealth Engineers, F.A. Wilhelm Construction, the Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) State Revolving Fund (SRF), and various consultants who were instrumental in getting the project underway.
Dignitaries who attended included State Senator Michael Crider, State Representative Bob Cherry, Tyler Warman from the office of Governor Holcomb, Congressman Greg Pence, and Kathryn Laesch from the Office of Senator Mike Braun.
The $70 million construction project is funded through the IFA SRF program. The project includes the replacement of the existing wastewater treatment plant with a new plant consisting of a raw sewage lift station, valve vault, and controls building; headworks building with screening, grit, and odor control equipment; sequencing batch reactor treatment system with blowers, mixers, and decanters; ultraviolet disinfection system; low-profile cascade aeration system; non-potable water system; sludge processing system including a sludge holding tank, blowers, mixers, decanters, sludge pumps, centrifuge dewatering, polymer feed, and conveyor system; chemical feed system for phosphorus removal, septage receiving station, vac truck screenings drying beds, lab and office building, emergency generators, and demolition of existing plant equipment, process tanks, and buildings.
This project is unique in that it is being constructed on an old Greenfield waste disposal facility.
