Suspect in Pulaski County burglary apprehended in Kentucky

A Lousiana man was arrested in Kentucky on March 5 after he was suspected to be involved in a residential burglary that took place north of Winamac on Feb. 8.

Pulaski County Sergeant Seth Barton stated that the Winamac burglary took place at the home of an elderly couple, who reported a male subject that had been impersonating a utility company. The victims stated the suspect had stolen a large sum of money from the home before he fled the area.

Pulaski County Detective Matthew Pickens was assigned to the case, and the suspected burglar was soon identified as Teddy Girton, 48, of Louisiana. As a result of this investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Girton for Pulaski County.

On March 5, law enforcement in Kentucky located Girton. Due to outstanding warrants in other counties, along with the Pulaski County warrant, Girton was taken into custody and is now awaiting extradition to Indiana to be brought before the courts of Pulaski County.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office stated this is still an active investigation, and they are still gathering evidence in the case. Anyone with more information on the case, or anyone who has experienced similar circumstances are asked to call the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office at 574-946-6655.
