For anyone in Shelbyville or Shelby County that needs sandbags, Shelby County EMA will have them available in the front parking lot at the office at 1310 N. Michigan Road.
The gates to the lot will be open until 5:00 p.m. during the week. The public is invited to fill as many as needed.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning until 2:00 p.m.
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected over an area which includes:
Bartholomew County
Northern Decatur County
Southern Hancock County
Johnson County
Southeastern Marion County
Rush County
Shelby County
Southwestern Henry County.
Northeastern Brown County
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
Between 3 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen since Tuesday morning. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 1.25 inches are possible in the warned area through midday.
