The Red Hill Unit #10 Board of Education is looking to modify its policy on student cellphone usage.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker discussed a potential statewide ban of student cellphones at school districts during his recent State of the State Address in Springfield. Superintendent Jakie Walker told GIANT-FM WAKO News that they have most of their problems with cellphone in grades 7 thru 12 at the junior/senior high school and have already been proactive with student cellphones by requiring them to put them up in class with individual teachers using different collection methods.
The board will study other different methods for cellphone collection for the next school year to try and improve the situation. The matter has been sent to committee for further review and perhaps a recommended course of action.
