Olney Central College (OCC) along with state and local dignitaries will get together to celebrate the completion of the new Health Professions Center this week.
The public is invited to attend an open house and dedication ceremony on Thursday, December 11th. The open house hours are from 3 until 7 p.m. with the formal dedication ceremony at 4 p.m.
The $3.5 million dollar project was funded through the Rebuild Illinois capital program and will benefit healthcare education and workforce readiness. The 8,500-square-foot addition includes two new classrooms, a six-bed nursing skills laboratory, two nursing simulation labs, and a new radiography classroom and lab. It will also feature a conference room, faculty offices, and a student commons area.
OCC officials say that the new center will be key in helping to train the next generation of healthcare workers in the southeastern Illinois region.
