The Marshall County Council has a short agenda for their first meeting of the new year tonight at 6. There will be a reorganization of the board and a chance for the public to speak on agenda items.
Commissioner Stan Klotz will ask the County Council to fund a portion of the purchase price for the Bowen Building at 990 Illinois Street. The Health Department will put $250,000 down on the building and the county will put in $200,000.
Highway Superintendent Jason Peters will request funding for the purchase of a Vac-Jetter Trailer for $122,000. He will also discuss the additional funds needed for the Community Crossing Matching Grant. During the 2025 budget process last fall, the council had to cut the $500,000 match to $333,000 because the DLGF said their cash balances wouldn’t support it. The council needs to find additional funds so Peters can apply for the $1.5 million grant.
Also on the council’s agenda are additional appropriations, encumbering 2024 funds for the 2025 budget year, an amendment to the salary ordinance for the probation department, the Lebbin Law agreement for 2025 and invoices, board appointments, and an opportunity for public comments on any topics.
The council meetings are open to the public in the second-floor meeting room of the County Building and streamed live on the County’s YouTube channel.
