Purdue Extension offices in Kosciusko and Fulton counties are hosting a special educational program to help all farmers and agribusiness professionals navigate significant changes in federal agricultural policy and taxation.
"Navigating 2026 Tax & Policy Strategies" will take place Wednesday, March 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tippecanoe Valley High School, located at 8345 IN-19 in Akron.
The program will focus on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), passed in July 2025, which represents what organizers describe as the most significant shift in U.S. agricultural policy in decades.
The legislation strengthens commodity protections, introduces permanent tax enhancements, and creates new opportunities for strategic growth and wealth preservation in the agricultural sector.
Participants will learn practical strategies to maximize farm safety net benefits and navigate permanent tax provisions, including bonus depreciation and Section 179 deductions. The program will also cover coordinated approaches such as ARC/SCO layering and farmland installment sales.
Roger A. McEowen, Professor of Agricultural Law and Taxation at Washburn University School of Law, will lead the session. McEowen brings decades of expertise in agricultural law and taxation, offering guidance designed to help farm owners, operators, and agribusiness professionals make informed financial and operational decisions.
The registration deadline for the March 19th meeting will be on March 17th. The two-hour session begins at 6 p.m. in the Tippecanoe Valley High School, and tickets are $15 per person. You can register online at https://bit.ly/AgLaw26
