A revised contract for the exterior project on the Marshall County Jail was approved during the County Commissioners meeting this week.
John Greer, Head of maintenance at the sheriff’s department and jail presented a revised contract that includes caulking of the windows and doors on the facility.
Fabcon, the original company that manufactured the wall panels, provided the revised contract on Monday.
The scope of work in the initial proposal included removing and replacing the exterior panel-to-panel caulking, repairs to rust stains, and maintenance work to the cracks. The cost was $55,106. Fabcon didn’t include removing and replacing the caulking where the panels and windows meet or where the panels and door are joined.
Greer brought the new agreement from Fabcon to Monday’s commissioner meeting. The additional expense to add the window and door caulking for $46,257 bringing the total project cost to $101,363.
Commissioner Mike Burroughs motioned to accept the revised contract and Commissioner Stan Klotz seconded the motion. It passed with a 2-0 vote. Commissioner Kevin Overmyer was absent from the meeting due to a medical issue.
