A Lawrence County man has captured his second Lawrence County Open golf tournament championship.
Jacon Zwilling of Sumner rallied from six shots behind Sunday and nipped Blake Claycomb by one shot to win the 71st edition of the annual affair hosted by the Lawrence County Country Club and sponsored by Faulkner Automotive.
He shot an opening round 3 under 69 on Saturday, but trailed both Claycomb, who opened with a 9 under 63 and former champion Zack Breault of Bridgeport, who carded a 4 under 68. But he bettered that on Sunday with a 5 under 67 final round for a 136 total while Claycomb ballooned to 2 over 74 total to finish second at 137 and Breault shot 3 over 77 to finish third with a 145 total. The win makes Zwilling a two-time winner after he won back in 2023.
