Shelbyville boys basketball rose seven spots in the USA Today Network Indiana High School Boys Basketball Poll.
The unbeaten Golden Bears (4-0) are No. 6 this week, up from No. 13 in last week’s poll.
Indianapolis Cathedral (4-0) is No. 1 in Class 3A followed by Silver Creek (5-0), Northview (3-0), Indianapolis Roncalli (2-0) and Princeton (3-1).
The Golden Bears lead the next five in the 3A poll ahead of Columbia City (4-0), Greenwood (4-1), Guerin Catholic (2-2) and New Palestine (3-1).
Shelbyville hosts Greenwood tonight at Garrett Gymnasium. GIANT fm will have the broadcast with the pre-game show airing at approximately 7 p.m.
Four of the top 10 in Class 3A this week are in the same sectional – Sectional 28. Shelbyville, Greenwood, Roncalli and New Palestine highlight the seven-team sectional field that also includes Beech Grove (4-1), Rushville (2-2) and Indian Creek (0-3).
Batesville (3-0), the final team on Shelbyville’s schedule this season, is ranked No. 15 this week.
Fishers (4-0) leads the Class 4A poll. Crown Point (2-0) is No. 2 followed by Lawrence North (3-0), Pike (4-1), Plainfield (5-0), Carmel (3-0), Mt. Vernon (4-1), Northridge (5-0), Jeffersonville (2-1) and Chesterton (3-0).
Shelbyville is at Mt. Vernon Friday for a Hoosier Heritage Conference contest.
Pendleton Heights (4-1), also a member of the HHC, is ranked No. 12. The Golden Bears host the Arabians on Jan. 17.
Parke Heritage (4-0) sits atop the 2A poll. The rest of the top 10 includes Oak Hill (4-0), Linton-Stockton (4-0), Centerville (4-0), Gary 21st Century (2-2), Park Tudor (3-0), South Ripley (3-1), Westview (5-1), University (3-1) and Paoli (3-0).
Triton Central (4-1) is ranked No. 21 in the 2A poll.
The top-ranked team in Class A is Kouts (5-0). Barr-Reeve (4-0) is No. 2 ahead of Hauser (4-1), Bloomfield (3-1), Rossville (4-0), Triton (4-1), Washington Township (3-1), Liberty Christian (0-2), Orleans (3-1) and Clay City (2-1).
Tri (4-0), in Sectional 59 with Morristown, Southwestern and Waldron, is ranked No. 14.
