The most powerful bat in Shelbyville softball’s lineup has now produced a new program record.
With a fifth-inning single Monday against Greenwood that scored Destiney Johnson, senior Addison Stieneker eclipsed TeAnn Bringle’s career record for runs batted in.
Bringle (2015-18) and Stieneker were tied at 122 career RBI entering Monday’s game. The Marshall recruit did not drive in a run in her first three at bats despite having two hits, but got the record breaker in the fifth off Greenwood pitcher Maddie Cravens that scored Johnson from second base and extended the Golden Bears’ lead to 8-2.
Stieneker then delivered the game winner in the sixth with a walkoff three-run home run that sealed Shelbyville’s 14-2 victory— its fourth straight since returning winless from the Castle Invitational in Evansville.
Stieneker has now homered in four straight games and her four-hit performance against the Woodmen pushed her batting average to a team-high .544. Of her 24 hits this season, 16 are for extra basesz
Greenwoid (3-6) got single runs in the first and third innings, both courtesy of Tessa Hammons doubles, but could not keep up with the Golden Bears offense that scored double-digit runs for the third consecutive game.
Anna Shearer (photo) followed her two home run performance in Friday’s win over Delta with a two-hit game that included a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
Julie Garrison reached base four times with two singles, a walk and a hit by pitch. The freshman scored two runs. Fellow freshman Reagan Dillon also had two hits and two RBI.
Gracie Crafton pitched a six-inning complete game and limited the Woodmen to four hits while striking out eight.
Shelbyville (8-5) is at Connersville (9-6) today.
