Shelbyville's Jones, Smith earn All-HHC award

The Hoosier Heritage Conference has announced its 2025 All-Conference Baseball Team and it includes a pair of Golden Bears.

Shelbyville senior Dalton Jones and junior Aiden Smith were selected based on their performances this past season.

 

 

Jones, who will play baseball at Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois, hit .400 this season for the Golden Bears with 11 doubles, three home runs and 27 RBI.

On the mound, he was 4-2 with a 2.50 earned run average in 33.2 innings of work.

 

 

 

Smith, committed to play baseball at the University of Kentucky, hit .413 for the Golden Bears with seven doubles, seven home runs and 24 runs batted in.

He collected a 5-1 record on the mound with a 2.39 earned run average and 55 strikeouts in 44 innings of work.

Also earning All-HHC distinction were Delta’s Zane Cline, Chase Flannery and Chase Ritchie; Greenfield-Central’s Zander Cobb and Parker Rhodes; Mt. Vernon’s Ryker Baer, Gage Blanchard, Andrew Boldt and Mason Meyer; New Castle’s Brayden Hancock; New Palestine’s Jackson Kamp, Rigg Mahurin, Jacob Morris and Gavin Neal; Pendleton Heights’ Colin Axel-Adams, Ty Frakes and Jordan Williamson; and Yorktown’s Reid Turner.

New Palestine’s Shawn Lyons was named HHC Coach of the Year.

New Palestine won the HHC title with an 11-3 record. The Dragons are 24-3 and competing in the Class 3A semistate Saturday in Jasper.

Mt. Vernon (18-8, 10-4 HHC) was runner-up ahead of Shelbyville (17-8, 9-5 HHC), Greenfield-Central (15-15, 8-6), Pendleton Heights (18-10, 8-6), Delta (22-9, 6-8), Yorktown (13-15, 4-10), and New Castle (6-19, 0-14).

Delta also is competing in the Class 3A semistate tournament Saturday at LaPorte.
