Shelbyville's Stieneker named Indiana Miss Softball finalist

Shelbyville’s Addison Stieneker is one of five finalists for Miss Softball.

The Softball Coaches Association of Indiana released its All-State teams, its All-Star Games participants as well as Coach of the Year and Miss Softball finalists Wednesday.

Stieneker, a Marshall University recruit, was selected First Team All-State for Class 3A/4A and will participate in the SCAI All-Star games on June 21 at Andy Mohr Field, on the campus of Indiana University, in Bloomington.

Miss Softball will be named between the doubleheader games.

The other Miss Softball Finalists are New Prairie’s Ava Geyer, Penn’s Ava Zachary, Brownsburg’s Izzy Neal and Tecumseh’s Katelyn Marx.

Geyer, a Western Michigan recruit, had 228 strikeouts and a 1.17 earned run average this season in the pitcher’s circle. She finished her career with 1,096 career strikeouts and a 0.98 ERA. She led New Prairie to the Class 3A state championship in 2023.

Zachary, a Notre Dame recruit, hit .548 this season with 10 doubles, seven home runs and 60 runs batted in. The third baseman hit .481 for her career with 41 doubles, 19 home runs and 172 RBI. She helped Penn win the 4A state title in 2023.

Neal, an Ohio State recruit, hit .558 this season with 39 steals – a single season record at Brownsburg. For her career, the speedy outfielder hit .480 with 153 hits, 114 runs scored and 111 career steals.

Marx was part of Tecumseh’s Class A state championships in 2022 and 2023. The Braves are currently ranked No. 1 in Class 2A this season. The University of Southern Indiana recruit has 56 hits – a single season record for Tecumseh – 43 runs and 23 stolen bases. She has 226 career hits.

 

 

Stieneker hit a career-high .582 this season for a 17-win Shelbyville squad. She also had career highs in hits (57), doubles (20), triples (3), home runs (14) and RBI (49). She broke Shelbyville’s career record for RBI this season and finished No. 2 on the career hits list.

The Coach of the Year Finalists are Tri-County’s Michael Luck, South Adams’ Jessie O’Dell, Indianapolis Cathedral’s Tony Matthews, Hagerstown’s Bruce Charles and Tecumseh’s Gordon Wood.

Stieneker was one of 25 players selected First Team All-State for Class 3A/4A schools. Other notable players bestowed All-State status were Hamilton Southeastern’s Grace Swedarsky, Connersville’s Carmen Ruble, New Palestine’s Katie Hirschy, Greenfield-Central’s Savvanna Riall and Center Grove’s Mae Munson.

Other Second Team All-State selections included New Castle’s Kattie Mathews, New Palestine’s Maddie Engle, Yorktown’s Abbey Booher and Greensburg’s Harper Adams.

Third-Team All-State selections included Cathedral’s Angie Valentine, Cascade’s Grace Gray, Connersville’s Bre Brock, and Franklin’s Addie Martin and Adeline Blackwell.

Stieneker will play for the South team in the SCAI All-Star Games. She will be joined by fellow Miss Softball Finalists Neal and Marx.

Also on the South team are Noblesville’s Brookelyn Grayson, Fishers’ Kate Murray and Kendall Jordan, Chatard’s Anna Caskey, Zionsville’s Sylvia Mudis, Rossville’s Avery Layton, Connersville’s Carmen Ruble, New Palestine’s Katie Hirschy, Center Grove’s Mae Munson, New Castle’s Kattie Mathews, Hagerstown’s Rylan Young and Allison Stinson, Bedford North Lawrence’s Ava Ratliff and Kendall Graves, Boonville’s Peyton Pryor, Charlestown’s Hannah Burns, Barr-Reeve’s Kennedy Huff and Forest Park’s Kaitlyn Randle.

The North team is anchored by Geyer and Zachary. Also included on the North team are Lake Central’s Kate Renschen and Taylor Schafer, Illiana Christian’s Lydia VanderWoude, Crown Point’s Lexi Smith, Logansport’s Natalee Packard, Lowell’s Olivia Fuentes, North Newton’s Sydney Rainford, South Central’s Lexi Johnson, Tri-County’s Isabella Dominguez, Columbia City’s Emma Hiss, Penn’s Izabella Hanna, South Bend Riley’s Lexington Jenkins, Mishawaka’s Lilly St. Clair, Western’s Kylie Miller, Leo’s Carley Funk, Woodlan’s Alyssa Harvey, South Adams’ Addie Baker and Bekah Patterson, and Whitko’s Addie Garr.
