The Red Hill football Salukis are through to the second round of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A playoffs.
They used a strong defensive effort and just enough offense to beat the Toledo (Cumberland) Pirates 12-0 Friday night at Toledo
The Salukis scored on a 1-yard run by Levi McCollough in the first quarter to take the lead and cemented the win later on a 14-yard touchdown reception by Colby Crutchfield. Meanwhile the Saluki defense took the ball away from the Pirates and kept them out of the endzone to record their third shutout of the season.
Red Hill is now 5-5 overall and Cumberland bows out of the playoffs also at 5-5
The Salukis will next play #2 seeded Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond (A-L-A-H) Knights at Arthur on Saturday, October 31st at 1 p.m. The game can be heard on Giant-FM WAKO 99.3 with pre-game at 12:30 p.m.
