It was a disappointing day Tuesday for the Red Baseball Salukis at the Tank Farm in Bridgeport. They fell behind early and could not recover in a 5-3 loss to the Odin/Patoka/Sandoval Eagles in the first round of the 2024 Midland Trail Conference (MTC) baseball tournament. The Eagles scored 4 runs in the first and held on. The Salukis did have the potential tying and winning runs on in the bottom of the 7th but could not bring them home. OPS scored 5 runs on 5 hits and made 2 errors while the Salukis were held to 3 runs on only 3 hits and made 3 errors. Carter Davis started and took the loss as he lasted only 2/3 inning giving up 4 runs on 3 hits. Garrett Moorehead went 6 1/3 and allowed on 1 run on 1 hit with 9 strikeouts. The Salukis are eliminated and will be idle until Thursday May 9th at Lawrenceville. OPS will play in the tournament semi-finals Wednesday at Cisne.
