Rock N the Beach rolls in $359,600 Miss Roxie Little Futurity at Horseshoe Indianapolis

Rock N the Beach and Rolando Pina rolled home to win the Restricted Grade 3 $359,600 Miss Roxie Little Futurity to close out the card during Indiana Champions Day Saturday at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The race marked the richest purse ever offered for Quarter Horse racing in the state during the 17th running of the event.

A start from post one had no complications and Rock N the Beach found himself on the lead soon after the start. Bumping impeded a few in the center of the 10-horse pack, which gave Rock N the Beach some extra time to continue to lead the way.

Midway through the race, Rock N the Beach made herself the one to catch as she opened up a few more yards in pursuit of the win. Race favorite CV Denali and Fernando Morin came charging in hard in the last few strides but their efforts were too late as Rock N the Beach becomes a Graded Stakes winner in the Miss Roxie Little Futurity.

CV Denali was three-quarter lengths back in second over TW No Beach Secrets and Diego Villamil Bocenegra for third.

Rock N the Beach was a winner from the trials and was sixth on the list of finalists ranked by time. Therefore, he was overlooked by the betting public, paying $16.20 to win. The freshman son of Escondido Beach is now on a three-race win streak for owner-breeder Jeff Sheets, who was trackside for the trophy and blanket presentation. Tim Eggleston, leading Quarter Horse trainer in 2025, conditions the two-year-old.

“I’m pretty excited,” said a speechless Sheets. “I just have to thank God for this blessing.”

Rock N the Beach moves his career earnings tally to $259,900 with the win. He is now three for six in his career and has not finished off the board in any of those starts.

“We talked about this colt this week because he always acts really good and seems to fly under the radar,” said Eggleston, who had qualified three in the Miss Roxie Little Futurity Final. “He looked really good when he broke his maiden and won by open lengths, and it was the same in the trial. We skipped the (QHRAI) SSA Futurity. I didn’t think he drew the best (post one) but then he’s a big colt, standing 16’1 and weighs 1,300 pounds so we thought maybe it would actually work in his favor. When you train the mom (PYC Fast Girls Rock) and she won a few races out here with Natasha (Perez) riding. And she was a little thing that stood 14’2. And now you have her baby win a race like this, it’s pretty awesome.”

The Miss Roxie Little Futurity (RG3) capped off the most successful Indiana Champions Day in the six-year history of the event. A total of $2,765,777 was wagered on the day compared to $2.3 million in 2024.

As the winner of Restricted Grade 3 Miss Roxie Little, the silks of Eggleston will be depicted on the jockey statue outside the winner’s circle. It is joined by the QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity, also a Restricted Grade 3 event, and two Graded Stakes for Thoroughbred racing, the Indiana Derby, and the Indiana Oaks, both Grade 3 events.

For Eggleston, it is the second win in three years in the Miss Roxie Little, and his first Graded Stakes victory. He also conditioned Red Headed Beach to victory in 2023.
