
Waldron tennis defeated cold weather, strong winds and Southwestern Tuesday, 5-0.
The Mohawks dominated the singles matches while both doubles matches were highly competitive.
At No. 1 doubles, Riley Price and Jackie Corlett outlasted Tori Burkhart and Tanna Tatlock, 6-0, 2-6, 6-3.
Both sets went to tiebreakers at No. 2 doubles before Malia Murphy and Madeline Walker defeated Callie Beck and Hayden Ramey, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2).
The most contested singles match came at No. 1 singles where Emerson Lindsey topped Aurora Belton, 6-3, 6-4.
Riley Thurston defeated Kelsie Stringer, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 singles.
At No. 3 singles, Ava Leising blanked Mallory McInery, 6-0, 6-0.

Waldron 21, Crothersville 2
At Waldron, Jordan Bennett had four hits and scored four runs while Jackson Kuhn and Troy Atwood each drove in three runs to up the Mohawks’ record to 2-2 this season.
Waldron led 3-1 when it came to the plate in the bottom of the third inning and scored 18 runs.
Kuhn and Keagan Schneider combined to limit the Tigers (0-3) to four hits and six walks over five innings on the mound.
Waldron is at Southwestern (2-1) Thursday.
Morristown 25, Providence Cristo Rey 0
At Morristown, the host Yellow Jackets scored 17 runs in the second inning and cruised to their first win of the season.
The Wolves dropped to 0-3.
Morristown (1-3) is at Jac-Cen-Del (3-0) Thursday.
Triton Central 12, Speedway 1
At Triton Central, Bryce Haney allowed three hits and two walks while striking out 10 to help the Tigers secure the Indiana Crossroads Conference win.
Triton Central (3-2, 3-0 ICC) scored six runs in the home half of the first inning and never trailed the Sparkplugs (1-4-2, 0-3 ICC).
Six different Tigers had two hits. Kail Slaughter, Nick Riggins and Weston Smith each drove in two runs.
The Tigers and Sparkplugs complete their ICC two-game series today in Speedway.
Mt. Vernon 12, Shelbyville 2
At Mt. Vernon, a six-run second inning put the Marauders in control and was enough run support for Andrew Baldt, who scattered six hits and struck out three for the Hoosier Heritage Conference victory.
Mason Meyer had two hits, including a home run, scored two runs and had two RBI.
Aiden Smith took the loss for the Golden Bears (3-2, 1-2 HHC). The right-hander allowed seven hits and two walks over four innings. He allowed nine runs but only two were earned.
Shelbyville’s defense had four errors in the loss.
Smith, Dalton Jones (2 RBI) and Brayden Smith each had two hits.
Mt. Vernon (3-2, 3-0 HHC) is at Barnett Field in Shelbyville today to complete the HHC two-game series.
Boys golf
Triton Central 183, Mt. Vernon JV 191
At Ironwood Golf Club, Chase Chandler shot 7-over-par 43 to lead the Tigers past the Marauders.
Max Crouse (45), Colton Ayres (46) and Derreck Uhls (49) completed the Triton Central scorecard.
Mt. Vernon’s Mason Gladson was the medalist with a 40.
Softball
Oldenburg Academy 21, Waldron 4
At Oldenburg Academy, Bre Barton had two hits and scored two runs in Waldron’s season opener.
Haddison Johnson took the loss for Waldron. She did not make it out of the first inning when the Twisters (1-4) scored nine runs.
Waldron is at Indiana Deaf (0-1) Monday.
Knightstown 14, Morristown 3
At Knightstown, the host Panthers scored 13 runs in the first two innings to cruise to the win. Lyla Trigg and Lanee Swindell combined for six hits, four runs scored and five RBI.
Jaycie Cole and Mae Hersberger combined to limit the Yellow Jackets to two hits and three walks.
Morristown (2-3) travels to Hagerstown (4-0) Monday.
Shelbyville 10, New Castle 0
At Shelbyville, Kali Laycock and Addie Stieneker each blasted home runs and Gracie Crafton limited the Trojans to four hits and four walks while striking out 10.
Anna Shearer had three hits, including two doubles, to help Shelbyville get its second HHC win of the week.
Kattie Mathews had three hits for New Castle (3-2, 0-2 HHC).
The Golden Bears (6-5, 2-0 HHC) host Delta (2-4, 1-0 HHC) Friday.
Girls tennis
New Palestine 3, Triton Central 2
At New Palestine, three of the five matches went to three sets.
Triton Central’s wins came at No. 1 singles where Maryrose Felling defeated Bethany Blachly, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, and at No. 2 doubles where Neve Kahler and Caydence Stout topped Alyssa Beller and Addison Ballard, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-1.
At No. 2 singles, Arabella Deisher bested Triton Central’s Anniston Evans, 6-0, 6-3. Kaitly Mitchell posted the same score in her win at No. 3 singles over TC’s Ellie Gast.
Maisy Haynes and Riley Watts needed three sets to defeat TC’s Estelle Gearlds and Kate Collier at No. 1 doubles, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Shelbyville 5, Columbus East 0
At Shelbyville, the host Golden Bears lost just six games while sweeping the Olympians.
Ava Muckerheide, Sophia Asher and Corinne Aldridge produced dominant singles performances that led to straight-set wins.
At No. 1 doubles, Megan Childres and Ava Van Wye defeated Saya Hauser and Lucy Morales, 6-3, 6-0.
Kylie Stader and Abby Huntsman blanked Lucynda Deston and Danna Rose, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 doubles.
Track and field
Shelbyville
Four Golden Bears delivered first-place points in the girls meet at Columbus East that also included Southwestern.
Aerin Garcia-Santiago won the 800 in 2:41.74 and finished second in the 1,600 (6:04.65).
Macey Robbins was first across the finish line in the 400 (1:01.87).
Alyna Castanon had the best distance in the long jump at 14 feet, one inch.
Chevelle Prather won the pole vault after clearing 7-0.
Shelbyville also had four event winners in the boys meet.
Shia Veach won the 1,600 in 4:56.26.
Blake Hughes was the fastest in the 200 (23.28).
Isaac Zermeno took first in the 300 hurdles (45.39).
And Jaylen Eads cleared 10-6 to win the pole vault.
Morristown
The Yellow Jackets defeated North Decatur and Oldenburg Academy in a three-way meet at Morristown.
Event winners for Morristown in the boys meet were Colston Allford (high jump), Arik Trattner (long jump, 100 meters, 200 meters), Lexi Singh (1,600) and the 400 relay team of Chris Stratton, Brayden Keithley, Weston Cole and Trattner.
Morristown three event winners in the girls meet.
Scoring first-place points were Sawyer Rogers (100 hurdles), Nevaeh Cox (400) and Brooklyn Carlton (high jump).
