
Waldron tennis secured a second 3-2 win this season over Triton Central and ended the Tigers’ season.
At the Shelbyville Sectional Wednesday, the Mohawks (12-3) got a pair of strong performances in the singles matches while the No. 1 doubles team of Jackson Kuhn and Caige Sheaffer notched a straight-set win.
Kuhn and Sheaffer defeated Max Crouse and Caleb McGuire, 7-5, 6-1.
At No. 1 singles, Waldron’s Charlie Fischer topped Janssen Capps, 6-1, 6-0. And Lincoln Fischer cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bradyn Robinson at No. 3 singles.
Triton Central’s Brayden Hoover completed his season at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Cash Young.
At No. 2 doubles, Triton Central’s Drayton Kermode and Graham Gast defeated Owen Hartman and Noah Mitchell in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The Tigers finished the season 15-7.
With the win, Waldron advanced to today’s sectional semifinals to face the host Golden Bears. In the other semifinal, Morristown takes on Southwestern.

Volleyball
New Palestine def. Triton Central, 25-19, 25-14, 25-17
At New Palestine, the Dragons improved to 19-3 with a sweep of the Tigers (15-8).
New Palestine setter Samantha Gooding broke the school record for assists in the win. Gooding now has 2,735 assists in her career.
Gwyn Williams led the Tigers with nine kills. Alaina Darlage had 11 digs. Maryrose Felling finished with 14 assists.
Triton Central won the junior varsity match, 20-25, 25-21, 17-15.
Elly May led the Tigers with nine kills. Anna Kemper collected 17 assists. Adyson Wright had four service aces.
