
In the first Shelby County Tournament of the spring season, Triton Central defeated Morristown and Southwestern Monday at Timbergate Golf Course.
The Tigers’ nine-hole score of 172 allowed them to pull away from the Yellow Jackets (205) and Southwestern (210). Waldron does not have a golf team this year.
Derreck Uhls (photo) shot a career-best 39 to earn the medalist honor.
Also playing for Triton Central were Colton Ayres (42), Chase Chandler (43), Max Crouse (48), Taggy Goul (51) and Garrett Eberhardt (53).
Eli Graves carded a 7-over par 43 to lead Morristown.
Also on the Yellow Jackets’ scorecard were Kilyn Gaines (51), Kellen Crim (55) and Michael Ballinger (56).
Eli Smith led the Spartans with a 48. Colton Binter and Landon Fix each shot 53. Josh Karr finished at 56.

At Franklin Central, the visiting Golden Bears scored twice in the sixth and seventh innings to secure their second-straight and even their record at 6-6 this season.
Dalton Jones had two hits, including a double. Gavyn Fisher drove in two runs. Aiden Smith had a double, scored two runs and drove in a run.
Brayden Smith earned the win, allowing six hits and no runs over the final two innings.
Boys golf
Shelbyville 162, Rushville 191
At Blue Bear Golf Club, Logan Tobian won the medalist honor with a 38, leading the Golden Bears to a win over the Lions.
Also on Shelbyville’s scorecard were Brock Wischmeyer (40), Jake Garrison (41), Ethan Hughes (43) and Logan Reinhart (45).
Softball
Shelbyville 13, Greensburg 3
At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears scored nine runs in the first two innings and rolled to a five-inning win over the Pirates (9-2).
Julie Garrison and Reagan Dillon each had three hits and combined for three RBI. Shelbyville (11-6) benefited from nine walks and three batters hit by a pitch.
Gracie Crafton earned the win, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out seven.
The Golden Bears are at Class 3A, No. 1 New Palestine (11-1) Thursday.
Triton Central 9, Beech Grove 1
At Triton Central, the Tigers bashed five home runs to win their seventh straight game and improve to 2-0 against Indiana Crossroads Conference foes.
Lillie Fillippinie had two home runs and three RBI in the win. The Muskingum recruit also pitched a complete game, allowing two hits and five walks while striking out eight.
Triton Central (7-1) also got home runs from Olivia Schaadt, Ashlyn Hittle and Brylie Couch.
The Tigers are at Indianapolis Lutheran (8-4, 2-0 ICC) Wednesday.
Girls tennis
Waldron 5, Milan 0
At Waldron, the Mohawks (3-1) won all five matches in straight sets.
At No. 1 singles, Emerson Lindsey defeated Kate Prifogle, 6-1, 6-2. Riley Thurston and Ava Leising also produced dominant singles performances.
Riley Price and Jackie Corlett bested Alex Getz and Autumn Rohrig, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
At No. 2 doubles, Malia Murphy and Madeline Walker defeated Kaitlyn Hicks and Ellie Rullman, 6-4, 6-0.
Triton Central 5, Batesville 0
At Batesville, Triton Central’s No. 1 doubles team of Neve Kahler and Kate Collier needed three sets to complete the sweep. The duo rallied from a second-set loss to Molly Meer and Ava Waksman to prevail, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.
At No. 2 doubles, Estelle Gearlds and Caydence Stout defeated Kate Bauer and Grace Walter, 6-3, 6-4.
Triton Central got straight-set singles wins from Maryrose Felling, Anniston Evans and Ellie Gast.
Triton Central is 6-1 this season.

Indianapolis Ritter 69, Triton Central 61, Beech Grove 60, Speedway 30
At Triton Central, the Raiders won the boys meet featuring the four schools leaving the ICC to create the Hoosier Legends Conference in the fall.
Event winners for Triton Central we’re Willie Baugh (46 feet, two inches in shot put), Zeke Robertson (15.54 seconds in 110 hurdles; 41.32 in 300 hurdles), Cash Compton (23.05 in 200) and the 400 relay team of Baugh, Compton, Robertson and Landon Slone (45.16).
Girls track
Indianapolis Ritter 65, Beech Grove 59, Speedway 59, Triton Central 40
At Triton Central, Farah Coen won the shot put with a best throw of 31-7, and Aubrie Propp crossed the finish line first in the 200 in 28.79.
Runner-up finishers for Triton Central were Bella Ball (4-8 in high jump) and Sawyor Murdick (1:08.96 in 400).
