
Triton Central tennis will compete for a regional championship Wednesday.
The Tigers defeated Perry Meridian, 4-1, Tuesday at the Center Grove Regional. Triton Central’s doubles teams swept both matches in straight sets while Maryrose Felling and Ellie Gast needed three sets to secure singles wins.
At No. 1 singles, Felling was victorious, 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 to improve to 22-0 this season.
Gast pushed her record at No. 3 singles to 22-1 with a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory.
Triton Central’s Anniston Evans was defeated at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 1 doubles, Neve Kahler and Kate Collier remained unbeaten at 21-0 with a 7-5, 6-2 win.
Caydence Stout and Estelle Gearlds produced a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles to improve to 16-1.
In the other regional semifinal Tuesday, Center Grove defeated Connersville, 5-0.
Triton Central (21-1) and No. 17 Center Grove (15-9) will meet today at 5 p.m. in the regional championship match.
Southwestern’s No. 1 doubles team of Tanna Tatlock and Tori Burkhart will face Roncalli’s Evie Eble and Sammie Kegerries today in a sectional semifinal round match.
The winner returns Thursday to Center Grove to face Franklin’s Kate Pinnick and Meleah Murphy in the doubles championship match.

Softball
Triton Central 13, Heritage Christian 1
At the Eastern Hancock Sectional, the Tigers scored nine runs in the first inning and cruised into the sectional championship game.
Brylie Couch had three hits and five RBI for Triton Central (21-2). Olivia Schaadt and Madison Collins each drove in two runs.
Lillie Fillippinie tossed a five-inning one hitter and struck out 13.
Heritage Christian ended the season at 7-14.
In the other sectional semifinal game Wednesday in Charlottesville, Eastern Hancock blanked Irvington Prep, 12-0.
Nieko Engleking had two hits and drove in three runs for the Royals (13-11). The freshman also was the winning pitcher, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out 15.
Triton Central and Eastern Hancock met earlier this season on April 14 in Fairland. The Tigers prevailed 5-2.
Girls track and field
Ben Davis Regional
Shelbyville freshman Macey Robbins nearly posted a personal-best time while finishing 10th in the 400 meters at the Ben Davis Regional.
Her time of 1:00.41 was her second-best time in the event this season after running 1:00.31 earlier this year.
Robbins was the only freshman in the top 10.
Zionsville’s Omema Anyanwu won the event in 54.76. Also qualifying for the state finals were Tri-West’s Kylee Regalado (55.85) and Ben Davis’ Amiah Rhodes (57.25).
Lawrence Central Regional
Two Morristown underclassmen did not qualify for the championship race in the 100 hurdles.
Freshman Sawyer Rogers placed 11th in the qualifying heats with a time of 17.16 seconds. Sophomore Brooklyn Carlton finished 14th in 17.64.
Carlton also competed in the 300 hurdles and finished 12th in 49.08.
