Prep Report: Triton Central sweeps Eastern Hancock to advance to sectional semifinal round

For the second time in 10 days, Triton Central volleyball swept Eastern Hancock.

On Thursday in the Eastern Hancock Sectional, Triton Central produced a 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 victory to move into Saturday’s semifinal round in Charlottesville.

Eastern Hancock’s first meeting with Triton Central was not nearly as competitive. On Thursday, the Royals (25-8) took early leads in two of the three sets but could not sustain productivity which allowed the Tigers to recover.

A Lucy May kill pushed Triton Central to a 16-15 lead in the first set and it never trailed again.

The Tigers did not take the lead in the third set until 15-14 on a Gwyn Williams kill. It was all Triton Central from there.

With a sixth straight win, Triton Central improved to 21-8.

The Tigers will face former Indiana Crossroads Conference rival Indianapolis Scecina (10-17) in Saturday’s second semifinal match. The Crusaders swept Irvington Prep (10-12) Thursday in the second quarterfinal match.

In the opening semifinal match Saturday. Christel House (13-8) will battle Heritage Christian (21-8).

The sectional championship match is set for 6 p.m.
