
For a second consecutive day, Triton Central baseball used a late score to win another Indiana Crossroads Conference contest.
Triton Central scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday at Covenant Christian for a 2-1 victory.
On Thursday in Fairland, the Tigers produced a walkoff win in the eighth inning to complete the sweep of the Warriors, 9-8.
Janssen Capps earned the win with six solid innings of relief work behind Hayden May. Capps pitched the final six innings, allowed five hits and three walks while striking out nine.
Nick Riggins and Brayden Hoover each had three hits and combined to drive in five runs. May had a double, scored two runs and drove in two.
Covenant Christian (7-5, 6-2 ICC) built a 6-3 lead before the Tigers scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead.
Triton Central (9-3, 8-0 ICC) now has a two-game lead in the conference standings over Covenant Christian, Indianapolis Lutheran (8-6, 5-2) and Monrovia (6-6, 5-2).
The Tigers host Tri-West (8-3) today.

Waldron 4, South Decatur 0
Jordan Bennett twirled a one-hit shutout and struck out 12 to lead the Mohawks to the Mid-Hoosier Conference win over the Cougars.
Bennett drove in the game’s first run on a hit-and-run play that scored Charlie Fischer in the first inning.
Waldron scored three runs in the third off South Decatur pitcher Corey Nugent, who pitched a complete game and struck out seven.
Waldron improved to 4-7 overall and 2-3 against MHC foes.
The Cougars (3-5, 2-3 MHC) will host the Mohawks today for the second of a two-game series.
Boys golf
Batesville 157, Shelbyville 160
At Hillcrest Country Club, the Golden Bears had three golfers shoot 40 or better but still finished three shots back of Batesville.
Jake Garrison led Shelbyville with a 38. Ethan Hughes and Brock Wischmeyer each shot 40. Logan Reinhart and Logan Tobian both posted 42s.
Brown County 180, Southwestern 228
At Timbergate Golf Course, Brown County’s top four golfers shot 48 or better to defeat the Spartans.
Brown County’s Cash Harden was the medalist with a 40.
Eli Smith led the Spartans with a 54.
Triton Central Black 166, Indianapolis Ritter 191, Triton Central Green 200
At The Links, Chase Chandler earned his fifth medalist honor of the season to lead Triton Central Black to the win.
Chandler shot 37 and was backed by 42 from Derreck Uhls, 43 from Max Crouse and 44 from Colton Ayres. Garrett Eberhardt completed the TC Black scorecard with a 47.
Jackson Faust topped the TC Green scorecard with a 46. Chance Uhls followed at 48.
Softball
New Palestine 9, Shelbyville 3
At New Palestine, the top four hitters in the Class 3A, No. 1 Dragons’ lineup accounted for nine hits, seven runs scored and eight runs batted in to deal the Golden Bears their first Hoosier Heritage Conference loss of the season.
Katie Hirschy, a University of Kentucky commit, hit two home runs and drove in five to improve New Palestine to 13-1 (2-1 HHC).
Maddie Engle, committed to Indiana, was a home run short of the cycle and drove in two. Payton Dye and Jersi Gross combined for three hits and three runs scored.
Sadey Hughbanks earned the win, scattering six hits and two walks while striking out five. Tessa Mohr pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
Five of Shelbyville’s seven hits were for extra bases. Addie Stieneker had a solo home run in the sixth, her seventh of the season.
The Golden Bears (11-7, 3-1 HHC) took the lead in the first inning with doubles from Destiney Johnson and Anna Shearer. Sydney Brown had a run-scoring double in the fourth.
Shelbyville hosts Triton Central (8-1) today.
South Decatur 19, Waldron 1
The Cougars scored at least two runs in all five innings to secure the MHC victory over the Mohawks.
Lilly Reese and Brooklyn Milbourn had the only hits for Waldron (0-4, 0-1 MHC).
Riley Benge earned the win for South Decatur (3-6, 1-2 MHC), allowing two hits and striking out seven.
The Cougars and Mohawks finish the two-game conference series today at South Decatur.
Girls tennis
Waldron 3, Blue River Valley 2
At Waldron, the Mohawks’ No. 1 doubles team stayed unbeaten and singles victories from Riley Thurston and Ava Leising secured the victory.
At No. 1 doubles, Riley Price and Jackie Corlett defeated Bekah Grimm and Ziranda Grounds, 6-3, 6-2.
Thurston produced a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kenna Sheets at No. 2 singles.
Ava Leising bested Grace McDonald at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Waldron improved to 4-1 and will face Triton Central (7-1) today.
