
Southwestern’s volleyball season came to an end Tuesday with a 25-22, 25-14, 25-18 loss to Tri at the Morristown Sectional.
The Spartans finished the season 4-22.
Tri improved to 10-16 with a second sweep of Southwestern this season.
The Titans will face South Decatur (15-13) in one semifinal match Saturday. The Cougars defeated Edinburgh, 25-16, 25-22, 25-20 at Morristown Tuesday.
The Lancers ended their season at 3-22.
In Thursday’s quarterfinal matches at Morristown, Waldron (7-20) takes on North Decatur (14-16) at 6 p.m. with Knightstown (12-15) and Morristown (12-16) to follow.
Shelbyville Sectional
At Garrett Gymnasium Tuesday, Class 3A, No. 1 Roncalli swept Rushville, 25-11, 25-11, 25-7 to advance to Saturday’s semifinal round.
Rushville closed out its season with a 12-15 record.
Roncalli improved to 27-5 and will face Indian Creek (16-8) Saturday at 10 a.m.
On Thursday, Beech Grove (2-26) takes on Class 3A, No. 7 New Palestine (26-4) in a 6 p.m. quarterfinal match.
The host Golden Bears (11-20) follow against Greenwood (11-17).
Thursday’s winners advance to Saturday’s second semifinal match.
Eastern Hancock Sectional
In the only quarterfinal match Tuesday in the Class 2A sectional in Charlottesville, Heritage Christian cruised to a 25-2, 25-7, 25-7 win over KIPP Legacy.
The Eagles improved to 21-8 and will face Christel House (13-8) in the first semifinal match Saturday.
On Thursday, Triton Central (20-8) faces the host Royals (25-7) at 6 p.m. in the first quarterfinal match.
Irvington Prep (10-11) follows against Indianapolis Scecina (9-17).

Boys tennis
Southwestern’s Kyle Beck and Shelbyville’s Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong now know their opponents for Saturday’s regional tournament at Indianapolis North Central High School.
Beck, a senior, will face Richmond freshman Alexander Harrick (19-1) in one semifinal match. The other semifinal pits Jennings County senior Parker Bales (20-2) against Indianapolis Chatard sophomore Casey Beckmann (18-1).
The winners will advance to Saturday’s regional championship singles match.
In the doubles tournament at North Central, Seymour’s Shunsuke Takeuchi and Braylon Busby (13-2) drew a bye into the regional championship match. The Owls will await the winner of the semifinal match that features a Hoosier Heritage Conference rematch from earlier this season.
Smith and Armstrong (21-1) battle Mt. Vernon’s Bryndan Wylie and Tate Cougill (15-7).
Smith and Armstrong defeated the Marauders, 6-4, 7-6 on Sept. 11 at Mt. Vernon.
The Golden Bears played at Seymour early in the season on Aug. 26. Smith and Armstrong defeated Takeuchi and another partner, 6-0, 6-0. Busby played at No. 2 singles in that match.
