Prep Report: TC volleyball sweeps Beech Grove for new conference victory

Triton Central volleyball swept Beech Grove Tuesday to earn its first Hoosier Legends Conference victory.

The Tigers defeated the Hornets, 25-6, 25-15, 27-25 to improve to 3-2 this season and end a two-match losing streak.

Lucy May led the Triton Central offense with 16 kills. Alaina Darlage finished with seven digs and five service aces. Gwyn Williams added six digs and four aces while Maryrose Felling collected 14 assists.

Triton Central won the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-17.

Elly May and Maecy Cord each had four kills for Triton Central. Anna Kemper notched 13 assists.

Triton Central continues its HLC schedule today at Indian Creek (3-1).

Girls golf

Greensburg 196, Shelbyville 199

At Blue Bear Golf Club in Shelbyville, Hana Stenger led the host Golden Bears with a 47 but it was not enough to keep the Pirates from securing the victory.

Completing Shelbyville’s scorecard were Julie Garrison (48), Maddy Jones (51), Riley Everette (53) and Sophia Asher (53).

Greensburg’s Mary Harmon was the medalist with a 44. Kahlen Adams followed on the Pirates’ scorecard with a 47.

Boys soccer

Martinsville 5, Shelbyville 0

At Martinsville, Jonathan Dalton and Charlie Rawlins each scored two goals to lead the Artesians to the victory.

Martinsville built a 1-0 lead by halftime then scored four second-half goals to defeat the Golden Bears (0-2).

Carter Fultz also scored for Martinsville (3-0).

The Artesians won the junior varsity match 3-0.

Shelbyville hosts Indian Creek (2-1) Thursday.

Boys tennis

Seymour 3, Shelbyville 2

At Seymour, the host Owls swept the singles matches in straight sets to defeat the Golden Bears (3-2).

At No. 1 doubles, Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong improved to 5-0 this season with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Shun Takeuchi and Gus Henry.

Aiden Alton and Jack Van Wye defeated Max Payne and Gage Hillian at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, 7-5.

Shelbyville takes on Yorktown today in a Hoosier Heritage Conference match.
