
Shelbyville scored four runs in the home half of the first inning and never trailed in a 7-4 win over Yorktown Tuesday at Barnett Field in Shelbyville.
The Golden Bears (9-7, 4-5 Hoosier Heritage Conference) managed to get the win with just three hits off Yorktown pitchers Palmer Jones and Luke Diebold, but took advantage of three errors to win the first of a two-game series.
Shelbyville is at Yorktown (8-8, 4-6 HHC) Wednesday.
Aiden Smith scattered five hits and one walk while striking out seven Tigers in a complete game performance.

Triton Central 13, Monrovia 1
At Monrovia, the visiting Tigers (11-4, 9-0 Indiana Crossroads Conference) stayed unbeaten in the conference standings with runs scored in each of the five innings played.
Bryce Haney went the distance for Triton Central, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven.
Janssen Capps and Brayden Hoover each had two doubles and two RBI. Ty Bergman also had two RBI.
The Tigers host Monrovia (7-8, 5-4 ICC) Wednesday.
Waldron 13, North Decatur 9
At North Decatur, the Mohawks scored seven runs in the top of the sixth to seal the win.
Jordan Bennett earned the win, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing eight hits while striking out nine. Hunter Dodson and Keagen Schneider combined to allow just one hit in relief.
Troy Atwood had three hits and scored three runs for Waldron (5-7, 3-3 Mid-Hoosier Conference). Bennett had a double and drove in three runs. Brayden Smith also had two hits and two RBI.
The Mohawks will finish their MHC series with South Decatur (3-6, 2-3 MHC) Wednesday before hosting North Decatur (6-6, 4-3 MHC) Thursday.
Southwestern 11, Edinburgh 1
At Edinburgh, Kaden Barlow drove in four runs to lead the Spartans to the conference win.
Brady Mitchell had two hits and scored two runs. Kyle Beck and Isaac Bunch each scored two runs.
James Oliver allowed two hits and four walks while striking out 13 for Southwestern (5-4, 5-3 MHC).
The Spartans host Edinburgh (3-12, 1-8 MHC) Wednesday.
Morristown 7, South Decatur 5
At South Decatur, the visiting Yellow Jackets scored all seven runs in the final three innings, including two in the eighth inning.
Toby Bishop took the loss for South Decatur, allowing six hits, three walks and seven runs in 2.1 innings.
Morristown (3-9, 1-4 MHC) will face South Decatur again on Thursday.
Boys golf
Greenfield-Central 164, Indy Genesis 168, Triton Central 178
At Hawk’s Tail, Chase Chandler collected another medalist honor, his seventh this season, with the low round of 38.
Greenfield-Central posted four scores between 39-42 to secure the victory.
Softball
North Decatur 12, Waldron 0
The Chargers scored 10 runs in the first inning and cruised to the MHC victory.
Libby Crawford and Kendall Hostkoetter each drove in three runs for North Decatur (5-7, 4-3 MHC).
Brooklyn Hudnall had two of the Mohawks’ four hits.
Waldron (0-6, 0-3 MHC) hosts North Decatur Thursday.
Girls tennis
Triton Central 5, Hauser 0
The Tigers extended their win streak to seven straight with a sweep of the Jets.
Triton Central’s singles trio lost just three games. Maryrose Felling, Anniston Evans and Ellie Gast were dominant against Hauser.
Kate Collier and Neve Kahler defeated Abby Manley and Kaycee Ridgely, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts secured a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Greenfield-Central 3, Shelbyville 2
At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears fell to 0-3 in HHC contests.
At No. 1 singles, Ava Muckerheide defeated Kate Gilkison, 6-4, 6-2.
Sophia Asher stayed unbeaten at No. 2 singles with a 6-7 (5), 6-2, 10-5 win over Claire Davidson.
The Golden Bears are 5-4 this season.
