
Shelbyville tennis swept all five matches in straight sets to defeat Yorktown 5-0 Wednesday to secure its first Hoosier Heritage Conference win of the season.
At No. 1 singles, Reece Prickett defeated Reid Butts, 6-1, 6-0. Kashton Laycock produced a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over Silas Carder. And Bram Kolkmeier finished the singles matches sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Aaron Buehler.
At No. 1 doubles, Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong improved to 6-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Palmer Jones and Noah Kelley.
Shelbyville’s No. 2 doubles pairing of Aiden Alton and Jack Van Wye topped Colton Nickols and Jackson West, 6-2, 6-2.
The Golden Bears (4-2) continue their HHC schedule Saturday against Delta.

Kennedy Hall carded a 43 to earn the medalist honor and lead Triton Central to the team victory.
Also scoring for Triton Central were Lindsey Huxford (52), Jaylee Davis (64) and Emersynn Ailes (67).
Boys soccer
Southwestern 1, Triton Central 0
At Southwestern, Landon Drake scored the Spartans’ lone goal and Chandler Holt had 10 saves to complete the shutout.
Class A, No. 8 Southwestern improved to 3-1. Triton Central dropped to 0-3-1.
The Spartans host Austin (1-3) Friday. The Tigers host Indian Creek (2-1) on Sept. 3.
Volleyball
Connersville def. Shelbyville, 21-25, 25-18, 16-25, 25-23, 19-17
At Connersville, the host Spartans (1-3) rallied to win the final two sets to secure their first win of the season.
Alivia Lee and Jordyn Noe led Shelbyville (1-4) with 15 kills apiece. Lyla Wilson had 12 kills.
Lee also had a team-high six service aces and added 14 digs.
Sydney Haehl led the Golden Bears with 38 digs. Addy Marshall finished with 49 assists and 19 digs.
Shelbyville hosts Speedway (0-4) today at Garrett Gynnasium.
