
Shelbyville scored four goals in the first half Saturday morning and cruised to a 6-2 victory over future Hoosier Legends Conference rival Beech Grove.
The win improved the Golden Bears to 6-8 this season and secured head coach Ben Purvis his 100th career coaching victory.
Shelbyville ends its regular-season schedule with a pair of Hoosier Heritage Conference matches this week. The Golden Bears are at New Palestine (7-6) Monday and at Pendleton Heights (8-5-1) Tuesday.

Triton Central's Kennedy Hall carded a 95 Saturday at Edgewood Golf Course to bring an end to her golf season.
New Palestine's Lauren Deering shot 75 to earn the final advancing spot for a golfer not on an advancing team.

Shelbyville's Riley Everette carded a 113 at The Legends Golf Club to bring an end to her golf season.
Center Grove's Zoe Land shot 79 to earn the final advancing spot.

Southwestern 4, Central Christian 0
At Southwestern on Senior Night, Josh Karr had a hat trick and Jay Brown tallied his second goal of the season to push the Class A, No. 13 Spartans to 10-3-1.
Southwestern closes its regular-season schedule Tuesday at Hauser (9-4-1).
Tri-West 5, Triton Central 0
At Tri-West, the Tigers suffered a shutout loss for the seventh time this season.
Tri-West improved to 4-9-1 (4-1 HLC).
Triton Central (4-10-1) faces University (7-5-2) Monday to close out its regular-season schedule.
Girls soccer
Monrovia 6, Triton Central 2
At Monrovia, the host Class A, No. 12 Bulldogs scored five second-half goals to secure the HLC victory.
Nellie Standeford and Trinity Inglert each scored two goals for Monrovia (12-3, 4-1 HLC). Bella Flynn and Addie Harris also scored.
Triton Central’s goals came from Ariel Walker and Rylee Pruitt.
The Tigers (9-3-2) are at Greenwood (7-5-1) Monday for another HLC contest.
Boys tennis
Shelbyville 4, New Castle 1
At Shelbyville, the Golden Bears dominated the doubles matches and added singles wins from Reece Prickett and Bram Kolkmeier.
In the regular-season finale for Shelbyville (17-5), Prickett defeated Austin Nunez at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Kolkmeier produced a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over Cameron Hastings.
At No. 1 doubles, Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong blanked Scott Gilman and Cormac Stillwell, 6-0, 6-0. And Aiden Alton and Jack Van Wye bested Jaxon Ellison and Dylan Blackford at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 2 singles, New Castle’s Caleb Inman topped Kashton Laycock, 6-4, 6-4.
Volleyball
Class A Showdown
At Blue River Valley, Morristown finished 3-1 with wins over Wes-Del, Blue River Valley and Cowan.
The Yellow Jackets’ only loss came to Springs Valley, 25-13, 25-12.
Morristown needed three sets to defeat Wes-Del, 19-25, 25-18, 15-9. Brooklyn Carlton led the Yellow Jackets with nine kills.
Morristown followed that with a 25-15, 21-25, 15-11 win over the host Vikings. Carlton had 12 kills and six service aces.
Avery Everhart finished with eight kills.
The Yellow Jackets earned a third three-set win with a 25-19, 21-25, 15-12 win over Cowan. Carlton and Everhart combined for 21 kills.
Anna Osborne collected 13 kills and Katie Theobald notched 27 assists.
Morristown (9-13) hosts Jac-Cen-Del (11-9) Tuesday.
Delta def. Shelbyville, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 25-13
At Shelbyville, the visiting Eagles improved to 9-9 (3-3 HHC) with a four-set win at Garrett Gymnasium.
The Golden Bears (9-14) have lost five of their last six matches.
Shelbyville won the junior varsity match, 25-14, 25-19.
Shelbyville hosts Pendleton Heights (12-14, 0-5 HHC) Tuesday.
Tri-West def. Triton Central, 25-16, 25-8, 25-12
At Tri-West, the host Bruins swept Triton Central to stay unbeaten and atop the HLC standings with a 4-0 mark (16-9 overall).
Gwyn Williams led Triton Central (13-7, 2-2 HLC) with seven digs. Alaina Darlage had two aces. Lucy May tallied three kills.
Tri-West won the junior varsity match, 17-25, 25-21, 15-12. Adyson Wright had three aces for Triton Central. Anna Kemper finished with 11 assists and four kills.
Triton Central hosts Monrovia (5-16, 1-2 HLC) Monday.
Cross country
Hoosier Heritage Conference Meet
At the Blue River Memorial Park cross country course, Shelbyville produced three All-HHC performances in its final event in the conference.
In the boys race, Shia Veach (photo, center) finished fifth in 16 minutes, 41 seconds. Logan Reinhart (photo, right) took the final all-conference spot with a 15th-place finish in 17:14.
Shelbyville finished seventh in the team standings.
Also scoring for the Golden Bears were Anderson Mollenkopf (62nd in 20:03), Eden Ortega (73rd in 20:28) and Alex Wells (74th in 20:45).
In the girls race, Shelbyville placed sixth in the team standings behind an All-HHC performance from America Leon-Torres (15th in 21:37) (photo, left) and a strong run from Macey Robbins (16th in 21:45). Also scoring for the Golden Bears were Aerin Garcia-Santiago (32nd in 23:17), Kathryn Seal (42nd in 23:58) and Avery Keller (47th in 24:31).
Hope Heritage Days Classic
In Hope, Morristown’s Ryan Crisman produced a top 10 finish with a seventh-place performance, crossing the finish line in 18:46.
Also running for Morristown were Lakshdeep Singh (14th in 19:24) and Evan Trittipo (42nd in 25:19).
Southwestern finished fourth in the team standings. Competing for the Spartans were Chris Claiborne (19th in 20:14), Jackson Bentz (27th in 22:20), Samuel Wilson (35th in 23:46), Max Wilson (39th in 24:21) and Jayden Thurston (51st in 29:29).
In the girls race, Morristown’s two entrants each placed in the top 10. Audrey VanDyke placed fourth in 22:38 and Brooke Kuhn finished 10th in 24:47.
For Southwestern, Kyndra King placed 25th in 30:06. Addy Brewer placed 26th in 30:30.
