Shelbyville delivered the first varsity win for new head coach Kylie Weichman Tuesday at William L. Garrett Gymnasium.
The Golden Bears defeated Waldron, 51-41.
In a game that was tied at halftime and the Golden Bears led 39-37 after three quarters, Shelbyville outscored the Mohawks 12-4 over the final eight minutes to seal the victory.
Maddy Jones hit four three-pointers on the way to a game-high 16 points for Shelbyville. Jayla Ash finished with eight points. Savannah Collins had seven and Melia Cartwright, Hannah Baker and Kiah Pandoli each had six.

Grace Fischer led Waldron (1-1) with 14 points. Emerson Lindsey hit a pair of 3s on the way to 10 points.
The junior varsity game was limited to just two quarters. Shelbyville prevailed 21-16. Nevaeh Cole had eight points to lead the Golden Bears. Abby Crouch led Waldron with nine points.
Shelbyville heads east Saturday to face Connersville (2-0).
Waldron is at Brown County (0-3) Tuesday.

Columbus Christian 38, Southwestern 22
At Columbus Christian, the host Crusaders built a 15-point halftime advantage and maintained it through a fairly equal second half.
Emma Murray led Columbus Christian (2-0) with 17 points. Olivia Wise finished with 10 points.
Maddi Barlow topped the Spartans, who were outscored 15-14 in the second half, with seven points. Claire Utley and Bri Stevens each scored six.
Southwestern (0-3) is at Oldenburg Academy (1-0) Saturday.
