Waldron freshman Caige Sheaffer led the Mohawks to a pair of wins over Eminence and Jac-Cen-Del.
At Eminence Friday, Sheaffer made five three-pointers to help Waldron build an early lead it would not surrender. Sheaffer finished with a game-high 17 points in the Mohawks’ 51-31 win over the Eels.
Sheaffer and Ethan Moody combined for 13 points in the third quarter as Waldron extended its 21-11 halftime advantage to 36-21 after three quarters. Moody finished with 13 points.
Eli Jones led Eminence (8-4) with 12 points.
Sheaffer had a game-high 20 points Saturday in Waldron’s 72-52 win over Jac-Cen-Del. The freshman made four 3s – three in the first half as the Mohawks built a 37-21 lead.
Seven different Mohawks scored in the third quarter to push the lead to 57-34.
Eli Stewart added 18 points for Waldron (8-4) – winners of five of their last six.
Darian Grieshop led Jac-Cen-Del (3-8) with 14 points. Blake Wagner finished with 11.
Waldron is at Class A, No. 3 Hauser (11-2) Friday.

Triton Central 58, Heritage Christian 41
At Triton Central Friday, Eli Sego scored 22 second-half points to lead the Class 2A, No. 8 Tigers to their second win of the week over a potential sectional opponent and their fifth consecutive win.
Triton Central (11-2) led 18-13 at halftime before Sego caught fire. The senior hit a pair of 3s and scored 10 points in the third quarter as the lead shrunk to 33-31. He sank three more 3s in the final eight minutes to help the Tigers outscore the Eagles 23-10.
Sego finished with a season-high 34 points to improve Triton Central to 3-0 this season against potential sectional opponents.
Logan Peters led Heritage Christian (8-3) with 11 points.
The Tigers host Indianapolis Lutheran (3-10) Saturday.
South Decatur 85, Southwestern 55
At South Decatur Saturday, Drake Scaggs and Cayden Drake combined to score 54 points to improve the Cougars to 8-3.
Scaggs scored a game-high 28 points while Drake had 26. Karson Templeton followed with 17 to improve South Decatur to 2-1 in the Mid-Hoosier Conference standings.
Southwestern trailed 42-34 at halftime then was outscored 25-11 in the third quarter. Landon Drake led the Spartans (3-8, 0-1 MHC) with 18 points.
Cecil Newton finished with 15 and Jay Utley had 11.
The Spartans are at Edinburgh (3-10) Friday.
Southwestern 68, Brown County 62
At Brown County Friday, Landon Drake scored seven of his 13 points in the fourth quarter to help Southwestern hold off a future MHC rival.
The Spartans led 50-49 after three quarters then outscored the Eagles, who will join the MHC next season, 18-13 over the final eight minutes to seal the victory.
Cecil Newton scored a game-high 18 points. Dusty Stevens had 17 and Josh Karr finished with 12.
Quentin Bell topped Brown County (3-10) with 16 points. Cash Harden had 14 and Aiden Lee finished with 11.
Girls basketball
Triton Central 61, Indian Creek 48
At Indian Creek Saturday, Maryrose Felling scored a game-high 28 points and four more Tigers tallied at least seven points to keep Class 2A, No. 8 Triton Central on top of the Hoosier Legends Conference standings.
Felling scored nine points in the second quarter to help the Tigers (15-3, 3-1 HLC) build a 33-24 halftime advantage.
The Braves (9-12, 2-3 HLC) cut the lead to 10 points after three quarters but made just one field goal over the final eight minutes and scored just five points.
Ellie Oliver made four 3s to lead Indian Creek with 23 points. Reagan Ferris finished with 13 points.
Layla Compton had nine points for Triton Central, who has won 10 straight. Quinn King and Kate Collier each scored eight points and Rylee Pruitt finished with seven points off the bench.
Triton Central is at Greenwood (1-17) Tuesday.
Mt. Vernon 43, Shelbyville 35
At Mt. Vernon Saturday, the host Marauders raced out to a 14-2 lead after one quarter and held off Shelbyville the rest of the way to secure the Hoosier Heritage Conference victory.
Zoey Wood scored a game-high 23 points to improve the Marauders to 10-8 (3-1 HHC). Taylor Greulich had nine points.
Despite the slow start, the Golden Bears trailed 32-25 after three quarters. Jayla Ash scored seven of her team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter. Hannah Baker finished with 10 points.
The loss ended the Golden Bears’ 5-game win streak and dropped their record to 10-8 (2-3 HHC).
Shelbyville hosts Whiteland (5-14) Wednesday at Garrett Gymnasium.
Knightstown 47, Waldron 44
At Waldron Saturday, Knightstown’s Lilly Drew had a double-double and broke the program record for career made 3s.
The junior had a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds and with her fourth made 3 of the game set a new Knightstown record with 103 career made 3s.
Waldron (6-10) led 17-12 after one quarter but the Panthers (11-6) rallied to tie the game at 25-all by halftime. Knightstown led 33-31 after three quarters and Drew and Kayla Cline, who finished with 13 points, combined for 12 points in the final quarter to seal the win.
Grace Fischer finished with a team-high 17 points. Brooklyn Milbourn followed with 14.
The Mohawks are at Speedway (9-7) Tuesday.
